*UPDATE: Please do not donate via GoFundMe*
Dear Community, Friends and Family,
Thank you for your continued support and contributions to our work. In light of today, October 22 as the National Day of Protest to Stop Police Brutality, Repression and Criminalization, we have decided to shut down the online donation option on our GoFundMe site.
We are joining the national boycott on GoFundMe, who has refused to take down GoFundMe pages supporting Darren Wilson, the officer responsible for the unjust killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson. We firmly oppose GoFundMe and their refusal to take down these pages, as they continue to profit from racially motivated hate crimes: Sign the petition HERE!
We ask that you stand with us and continue to support our work for the remaining 7 days, by giving cash, writing checks*, or through Square Cash (send to firstname.lastname@example.org). We will post all offline donation updates on here until we complete our campaign on Tuesday, October 28th.
We stand in solidarity with the people in Ferguson who continue to rise up against the killing of Michael Brown, despite the rapid and intensifying militarization of their town. And we demand justice for Jennifer Laude, a 26-year-old Filipina Transgendered woman who was murdered by US Marine Joseph Pemberton in the Philippines on October 11 and we demand the officer be handed over to Philippine custody. Sign the petition HERE!
As GABRIELA Seattle, we will always take a stand against police brutality, militarization and all other forms of state repression, having seen and known the affects of it ourselves in our own communities and in our homeland.
With Love and Solidarity,
*Please make checks payable to “Gabriela Seattle” and send to: P.O. Box 18045 Seattle, WA 98118.
