Invitation for Membership/Participation to the
International Women’s Alliance · First General Assembly
5 -6 July, 2011 · Manila, Philippines
Warmest greetings of international solidarity!
Last August 16, 2010, the International Women’s Alliance (IWA), an alliance of women’s mass organizations, institutions, networks, alliances and individuals held its founding assembly in Montreal, Canada with 27 women’s organizations, 15 women’s institutions and 26 individuals as founding members.
The formation of IWA was a result of the Montreal International Women’s Conference in Canada held August 13 – 15, 2011 attended by 400 delegates from 32 countries. The said conference passed a resolution that called for the formation of IWA as an anti-imperialist, anti-patriarchal, anti-racist and anti-sexist alliance committed to building a militant global women’s movement in the 21st century as part of the movement for national and social liberation.
Knowing your organization’s commitment to the cause of national and social liberation and women’s equality, may we invite you/your organization to be a member of IWA and participate in its First General Assembly which will be held in the Philippines from July 5 to 6, 2011.
The First General Assembly of IWA will adopt its constitution and by-laws, basis of unity, general program of action and two-year plan and elect the officers and members of its leading bodies.
