According to the United Nations, one in three women will be raped or beaten in their lifetime, or about one billion. On February 14th 2013, also known as “International End Violence Against Women’s Day” or “V-Day,” one billion people in 207 countries rose and danced in demand of an end to violence against women.
Last year, Pinay sa Seattle — joined by members of BAYAN PNW, Filipino Youth Activities Drill Team, and Pi Nu Iota – performed the OBR dance to support survivors of domestic violence and educate others about military violence. The OBR dance was choreographed by Gabriela Phillippines and danced all around the world. Join us as we dance again this year to rise up with women everywhere for justice!
